Mark W. Geisler

Mark Geisler is of counsel to The Hoffinger Firm, PLLC. While his practice focuses on civil litigation, including commercial disputes and employment litigation, he also has been involved in criminal defense matters, products liability defense, and negotiation of commercial contracts, employment contracts and leases. Over his career, he has appeared in the State Supreme Courts throughout the five boroughs of New York City, Westchester County, Nassau County, Rockland County, Orange County and Ulster County; the Appellate Divisions in the First and Second Departments; federal courts in the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York and for the District of New Jersey; United States Bankruptcy Court; Surrogate's Court in Westchester and Suffolk Counties; criminal courts in New York City and Long Island; and family courts in New York City and Long Island. He has appeared pro hac vice in various state courts in New Jersey and California, and has represented clients in mediation proceedings in New York, New Jersey, California and Canada. He has also litigated before the USPTO Trademark Trial and Appeal Board. For over a decade, he served as general counsel to a physicians' practice, addressing a wide variety of issues ranging from the negotiation of commercial leases and contracts through employment disputes.


Mark was graduated from New York University School of Law in 1982, where he received a Moot Court Advocacy Award and was a member of the Moot Court Board (1980-1981).

Prior to law school, he was graduated magna cum laude from Fairfield University (1979), where he also received the Passarelli-Guinta Award for Excellence in the Study of Political Science.

Prior Experience

From 1982 - 1985, Mark was a confidential law assistant for the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court, Second Judicial Department, analyzing a wide range of civil and criminal appeals and motions. Thereafter, from 1985-1998, he was associated with Hoffinger Friedland Dobrish Bernfeld & Hasen and successive iterations of the firm, through Hoffinger Friedland Dobrish Bernfeld & Stern, P.C. While there, his practice involved civil and criminal litigation, business law, corporate law, family law, and health law matters.

In 1998 he became associated with Skolnick Hochberg & Bernfeld, P.C. (later, Skolnick & Hochberg, P.C.) where his practice entailed civil litigation and business, commercial and corporate law matters, real estate, health law and general practice. In 2004, he became associated with Hoffinger Stern & Ross, LLP and engaged in commercial litigation and product liability defense with respect to dietary supplements, conducting fact and expert depositions throughout the country and appearing before various courts and mediators, and obtained trademark registrations for clients.

Bar Admissions

Mark is admitted to the Bar in New York State (1983) and the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York (1984). He is a member of the New York State Bar Association.

Activities and Honors

Mark has been selected as one of New York's "Super Lawyers" for excellence in general litigation.

Mark is a former President of the Board of Trustees of the Hendrick Hudson Free Library in Montrose, New York and has served on the Board continuously since 2004.
